Hosting CSAIL websites

This section describes some of your options for hosting CSAIL-related websites. It is not exhaustive at all (in part because our web-hosting infrastructure is currently in some flux, and we’re focusing here on those options which are expected to be stable long-term), but it lists a few of the options you may want to consider if you want to host a CSAIL-related website.

Redirecting to an existing web location

Often the quickest way to let people get to your website with a CSAIL URL is to have the CSAIL URL redirect to an existing website. That’s not transparent to the viewer (their web browser will show the non-CSAIL URL), but it’s quick and easy.

Hosting outside CSAIL with a CSAIL domain

There are lots of options for hosting websites outside CSAIL, but giving them a CSAIL URL. In general this requires some degree of coordination of the CSAIL DNS entry and the configuration on the hosting provider (the web server needs to know to serve data for the CSAIL domain). Lots of hosting providers can do this, but the details vary for each one. One option is:
