Printing Instructions for Windows

All users who wish to print must be on the CSAILPrivate wireless network or wired CSAIL Ethernet.

The list below will show the available printers and their respective model numbers

Windows 11 printing

Windows 11 should be able to find and download the printer drivers automatically. If not

  1. Go to http://www.support.xerox.com
  2. Enter the model number of your printer in the search box and download the appropriate PS Global Print driver.
  3. Execute the .exe file and extract the PS Drivers C:\Xerox (make the folder if it isn’t present) or extract to wherever you want the driver files to be located
  4. Proceed to Adding the printer below

Adding the printer

  1. Go to “Settings” “bluetooth and devices” scroll down to and select “printers”
  2. When prompted, select “add manually”
  3. Select “add a printer using an IP address or hostname”
    TCP/IP: autodetect
    Hostname: Full printer hostname For example: xerox2.csail.mit.edu
    Port Name: leave blank
  4. If prompted, choose “Do not Share Printer”

Adding the printer

  1. Click Start Search “printer”
  2. Select “Devices and Printers” “Add a Printer”
    • Windows will start searching for available printers.
  3. Click “The Printer that I want isn’t listed”
  4. Select “Select a shared printer by name”
  5. Enter http://cups.csail.mit.edu:631/printers/printername and hit next
    • For example, to install the printer xerox enter http://cups.csail.mit.edu:631/printers/xerox2
  6. Click have disk and browse to C:\Xerox or whatever directory you have extracted the drivers to, and then open the “.inf” file inside the directory

Advanced Printing Features for Workcentre 7970 ONLY

After clicking print and selecting the 7970 printer:

Here you can select Orientation and if you would like it double sided “Print on Both Sides”
