Event Calendar
To create an event announcement, navigate to the CSAIL website, https://www.csail.mit.edu.
Click on the “login” link in the upper-right hand of the page.
Use your CSAIL OIDC (Kerberos) credentials to log in.
Once you are logged in, you will be at your profile page. In the lower left hand side of the page, you will see three links. One of them is “Create Event.”
Click “Create Event”. You will be taken to the Event creation page.
This screen is divided into three sections: Main, People, and Metadata.
Main Tab
You will fill in the basics about the event in the Main tab: the title of the event, the abstract (called “Description” here), the time and date, the room location (either by choosing a CSAIL conference or seminar room, or providing a non-CSAIL location), the seminar series (if applicable, and so on.
You can also choose to have reminder emails sent about the event. There are check boxes to have an automated reminder sent - one will send a reminder the day before the event, and the other will send a reminder one week before the event.
You can specify up to two email addresses - ONE PER LINE - where your reminders can be sent. Please do not attempt to put multiple addresses on one line.
DO NOT use csail-local@csail.mit.edu for event reminders. This is not an appropriate list for event reminders and any reminders sent to that address will be rejected.
You can also use the “Save and Send Reminder Email Now” button at any time to send an immediate reminder email. You just need to edit the event and click that button, and a reminder will be sent to the email addresses specified in the Email Reminders fields.
NOTE ABOUT “PRIVATE” EVENTS
There is a checkbox that allows you to tag an event as private, for CSAIL members only. PLEASE NOTE that any event marked “private” will still show up publicly on the CSAIL website, in RSS feeds, and on the Gates lobby events kiosk. Marking an event as “Private” does NOT hide it in any way. It simply lets viewers know that the event is not meant for attendance by non-CSAIL members.
People Tab
The People tab contains fields for your speaker details, host details, and contact details. (The email reminder details are also shown at the bottom of this page, as they are on the Metadata tab as well. It’s the same information displayed for email reminders on all three tabs as a convenience).

You can choose to tag your event with an Impact Area and/or a Research area if you want.
Viewing your events
Click on the “Profile” link in the upper-right hand corner of the site. This will take you to your profile page. At the bottom of your profile page, you will see a listing of all your upcoming events.
Editing, Cancelling, or Deleting an event
From your profile page, you can click on the title of the event you want to alter. That will take you to the edit screen for the event.
If you want to edit the event, simply change the fields you want to be updated, then click “Save”. You can also choose to “Save & Send Reminder Email Now”.
If you want to cancel the event, and want for people to know that the event has been cancelled (e.g., so they don’t show up expecting it to still be happening), check the “Cancel Event” checkbox. It is recommended that you then click “Save & Send Reminder Email Now” so that your audience knows that the event has been cancelled.
If you’ve created an event by mistake and have not advertised it, you might want to completely delete it. If this is the case, you can click “Delete” and confirm that you really want to delete the event.
