Webmail access to CSAIL email
Webmail Access to CSAIL Email
You can read your CSAIL IMAP email anytime through Horde webmail. It requires no setup and works from any web browser, making it convenient for traveling or when networks block email but allow web access.
Webmail is not as comfortable as a dedicated email client and is best used occasionally rather than as your primary email interface. For regular use, we recommend configuring an email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird.
Why Use Webmail?
Server-side filters: Filters you create in webmail apply to all your mail as it arrives, even when your email client isn’t running. Local client filters only work when that client is active.
Vacation rules: Set auto-responders and other rules through the webmail interface.
Other features: Horde includes calendar, notepad, to-do list, and bookmark manager (these are not supported by TIG and are available at your own risk).
Webmail Tips
Viewing HTML messages and attachments
Some messages display incorrectly. To see all message components:
- Click the gear menu next to “Others (unsupported)”
- Go to Preferences > Mail > Message > Viewing
- Select “Show all parts”
- Click Save
Messages will now show a “Parts” menu under the headers. Click it to view all attachments and embedded media.
Speed up message searches
The search box defaults to searching entire message content, which is slow if you have many messages. Instead:
- Click the down-arrow in the search field
- Select a specific field: “From”, “Recipients (To/Cc/Bcc)", or “Subject”
- Enter your search term
Results will be much faster.
