Deleting a Mailing List

At the moment there is no self-service mechanism allowing list administrators to delete their mailing lists. Please ask TIG if you need to delete a mailing list, by sending mail to help@csail.mit.edu.

If your list had private archives on the web, once the list is deleted, those archives won’t be accessible to anybody (since the list no longer exists, so nobody can authenticate as a list member to read them). If the list had public archives accessible to anybody on the web (as might be the case, for instance, for a list announcing software releases with release notes), then keeping old archives up on the web even after the list is deleted might be useful. Please let us know whether or not the archives can be deleted along with the list.
