Communications and News
CSAIL Communications
The Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) is one of the world’s leading research institutions, advancing the frontiers of computer science, from the theoretical foundations of computation to real-world applications in AI, robotics, and human health.
Our Communications team tells that story, connecting the lab’s research, people, and ideas to the CSAIL community and the broader public through news, features, video, and media relations.
What We Do
We handle press and media work from first contact to final story. Our services include:
Media Relations & Press
- Press packages for CSAIL research — We prepare press releases, research summaries, and supporting materials to get your work in front of the right journalists and outlets at the right time.
- Media outreach and relations — We pitch stories, explore collaborations, field inquiries, and manage relationships with science and technology reporters and influencers.
- Research coverage and feature stories — We write in-depth articles that translate complex research for a general audience, published through MIT News, CSAIL’s own channels, and public-facing outlets.
- Conference and publication announcements — We help time and amplify news around paper acceptances, conference presentations, and journal publications, coordinating with venues like NeurIPS, ICML, and CVPR.
- Op-ed and thought leadership placement — We help researchers develop and place opinion pieces in outlets beyond the traditional academic press.
Multimedia & Digital Content
- Videography and video production — We produce short-form and long-form videos showcasing lab research, from demo footage to fully edited features for YouTube and social media.
- Photography and visual documentation — We document research milestones, lab events, and demos with professional photography for use across press and digital channels.
- Social media — We develop and publish content across CSAIL’s channels, including research highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and timely posts around paper acceptances and conference appearances. If you have work to amplify, we can help shape it for social.
Strategy, Advocacy & Internal Support
- Strategic communications consulting — We can help you think through how to position and time your communications for maximum impact, whether for a major publication, conference announcement, or industry partnership.
- Awards and honors nominations — We support faculty and researchers in preparing nominations for major academic and industry awards.
- Speaker and media opportunity referrals — We actively position our thought leaders to podcast hosts, panel organizers, and event producers.
- Internal communications — We support lab-wide announcements, newsletters, and communications to keep the CSAIL community informed about news, events, and initiatives.
Social Media
CSAIL’s social channels serve as a vehicle for research, innovation, and ideas from the lab, with a combined following of over 700,000 across all platforms.
