The Infrastructure Group

The Infrastructure Group (TIG) provides service-oriented computing, communications and operations assistance to support the world-class research underway at CSAIL. On the technical side, TIG handles everything from maintaining and monitoring a complex computing infrastructure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ensuring lab members can access cutting-edge computing services and in-person support. TIG maintains the lab’s four on-premises data centers as well as hosting in off-premises facilities. Additionally, TIG actively promotes CSAIL research to the broader MIT community, reputable news organizations and the general public via a full-range of media relations and communications services.

Service Status

Power Shutdown Dreyfoos Floors 1-3 6AM-2PM on Saturday April 6th 2024:

The Department of Facilities is planning to shutdown normal building power effecting 32-D Tower Floors 1-3 from 6AM-2PM on Saturday April 6th 2024. This shutdown as far as we know affects ALL power on floors 1-3 on Dreyfoos side of building including CSAIL public areas, CSAIL offices and research labs. On the computer room side this outage will include all research systems in 32-399. TIG services such as CSAIL email, lab-wide services and web sites, data storage systems, and core network services are expected to remain online. The network in private offices and lab spaces, including CSAIL wireless service, will be down for the duration on floors 2 and 3. The computing environment at MGHPCC in Holyoke should not be affected by this outage. We would suggest folks that who work on 2nd and 3rd floors on D side stay out of the space until shutdown is complete. We will continue to work with MIT Facilities in planning for this shutdown. We will keep the community informed. If you have any questions/concerns about shutdown or about systems in 399 please reach out to ops@csail.mit.edu ASAP, and if we can’t assist we can forward them along to MIT Facilities.

Information for new CSAIL inhabitants of Schwarzman College of Computing at building 45 can be found on our Building 45 page.
