Printing Instructions For Mac OS 10.6 or higher

Wireless devices must be configured for TIG.CSAILPrivate to use CSAIL Network Printers.

All users who wish to print from or have a static IP address on the wireless network must switch to the TIG.CSAILPrivate wireless network.

Setup

The list below will show the available printers and their respective model numbers (for driver download)

• Locate your printer on the list below and note its model number
• Go to http://www.support.xerox.com
• Enter the model number of your printer in the search box and exclude the "Xerox" prefix
• Select "Drivers & Downloads" and proceed to download the printer driver for Mac OS
• Open the ".dmg" file downloaded and load put ".pkg" file to setup
• Continue with the setup until you are prompted to setup a printer... go ahead and click continue without setting anything up, and the installation should finish

• After the printer drivers are downloaded onto your Mac, the next set of instructions will tell how to install your printer

Installing the Xerox Printer Driver

• Click Spotlight (Magnifying Glass Top Right) and Type "Printers"

• Click Printers & Scanners

If the lock in the lower left is closed, click it to unlock so you can edit your settings

• Click "+" to add a printer, then click "IP" tab, enter the following in the fields:

• Address: cups.csail.mit.edu

• Protocol: "Internet Printing Protocol - IPP"

• Queue: [combine "printers/" with the "Printer Queue Name" of your printer in the table below, ignoring any text that might be in (parenthesis).

E.g., if there was a printer listed as "exp (example printer)" you would enter printers/exp

• Name: [delete cups.csail.mit.edu and enter printer name

• Location: [not needed, can leave blank]

• *Use * "Select Printer Software..." then type in just the numbers of the printer model (eg "7970"). Select the matching printer model, then click Add/Close.

Configuring the printer model (Workcentre ONLY! Otherwise, leave defaults)

If a printer is Xerox 7970 WorkCentre:

• Click Spotlight (Magnifying Glass Top Right) and Type "Printers"

• Click Printers & Scanners

• Click on the 7970 Printer and then click "Options & Supplies":

• Click Options tab and configure the following fields:

• Paper Trays: 6 Trays (High Capacity Feeder and Tandem Trays)

• Finisher: "BR Finisher"

• Hole Punch Module: "2 and 3 Hole Punch Unit"

• The printer is now installed. Your default printer may have been changed - check those settings before closing the Print & Scanners preference menu.
