Loaner Laptops

Available configurations:

  • Dell Inspiron 8600 (Intel Pentium-M 2.0 GHz, 2GB ram, 15.4" display)
    • Operating system: Windows XP SP3
    • Software: Office 2003, Acrobat Professional 8.0, Kerberos + OpenAFS, Skype, McAfee VirusScan, Cisco VPN client
    • SPECIAL NOTE: When borrowing this laptop, you must turn it on and log in using your CSAIL Kerberos account, in order to have access once disconnected from the CSAIL network.
  • Dell Latitude D410 (Intel Pentium-M 1.8GHz, 2GB ram, 13" display)
    • Operating system: Windows XP SP3
    • Software: Office 2003, Standalone Matlab 2008a (no toolboxes), Kerberos + OpenAFS, Skype, McAfee VirusScan, Cisco VPN client
  • Apple Macbook (Intel Core-duo 2.0 GHz, 2GB ram, 13" display, black plastic case)
    • Operating system: MacOS 10.5.5
    • Software: Office 2008, Skype, Cisco VPN client

Reserving equipment

In a browser with valid CSAIL certificates, go to the Equipment Booking system page. Find the date(s) and/or time(s) for which you need the equipment and click the "+" to make your resveration.

Guest users do not have administrative privileges on any of the loaner laptops. If you anticipate needing administrative privileges, please see a TIG system admin before checkout.

All personal information should be deleted from the hard drive before you return the machine. This includes (but is not limited to) browser caches, email account information, and saved files.

Accessories Included:

  • Cat-6 network cable
  • Power adaptor
  • Tote bag
  • Others as requested/available

Please make every effort to return all included accessories intact and in good working condition.
