CSAIL Debian

CSAIL Debian is TIG's custom GNU/Linux distribution, used throughout the lab and fully supported by TIG. It runs on standard x86 and amd64 (x86_64) hardware. CSAIL Debian comes pre-configured with the most commonly used applications in the CSAIL environment, and is integrated with CSAIL Kerberos for authentication, AFS/NFS filesystems, and printing infrastructure. This allows easy, transparent access to all the standard network resources without you needing to know the details of how everything works. As a derivative of Debian GNU/Linux, CSAIL Debian provides access to over 15,000 software packages in the stable repository.

Debian 6.0 (squeeze) is the only version of CSAIL Debian currently available for new installations. For earlier versions, TIG can assist with upgrading them to squeeze.
