Mac OS 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") Licensing and availability
IS&T now has OS 10.6 Snow Leopard available for new installs and upgrades for MIT Owned Machines.
- First, request a license at TIG Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard page
- Then check out a disk from 32-276 (we have burned limited copies; license request must be completed before we will loan out media.)

10.6 Known issues
Printing
Enough components in the printing subsystem have changed that many print drivers no longer work. Specifically:
- Xerox drivers on the TIG website may function erratically or not at all
- Workaround: use the Generic Postscript driver. Downside: special features are not available except for "2-up" and double-sided.
Kerberos
- Shortcuts to "Kerberos.app" will need to be re-created. The utility is now
/System/Library/CoreServices/Ticket Viewer.app.
- On machines upgraded from 10.5 or earlier, no Kerberos tickets can be obtained until
~/Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos.KerberosLogin.plist is deleted.
- Scattered reports of Kerberos tickets not renewing even with Ticket Viewer running. If this happens to you, please email help@csail.mit.edu .
Finder
- Macintosh HD doesn't show on desktop by default. Revert in Finder -> Preferences ("show connected servers" will show AFS too)
