Mac OS 10.5 or higher
- Apple Menu -> System Preferences -> Hardware -> Print & Fax
- If the lock in the lower left is closed, click it to unlock
- Click "+" to add a printer
- Click "IP Printing" at the top of the window
- Protocol: "Line Printer Daemon - LPD"
- Address: "cups.csail.mit.edu"
- Queue: [enter printer queue name] - List of Public Printers
- Name: [delete
cups.csail.mit.edu and enter printer name]
- Location: [not needed, can leave blank]
- Print Using: "Select Printer Software..." then type in just the numbers of the printer model (eg "7655"). Select the matching printer model, then click Add/Close. Note: if you don't find your specific printer model, consult our List of Public Printers and Their Drivers -- you will need to install the driver, then cancel and quit System Preferences starting again.
- If a printer is Xerox WorkCentre? 7655, then make sure that in "Installable Options" Finisher/Output Tray is set to "Advanced Office Finisher" and Hole Punch Unit to "2&3 Hole Punch Unit". For all other models leave defaults in "Installable Options". Click Continue.
- The printer is now installed. Your default printer may have been changed - check those settings before closing the Print & Fax preference pane.
Note: If you have a 64-bit machine and are having problem printing, then try to set the application to a 32-bit mode.
For example, you need to print from Safari, then click on Finder -> Applications -> Safari -> Mor Info and check "Open in 32-bit mode". Then print.
