Cluster Hardware Architecture
The current architecture specification calls for multi-core 64bit CPUs
with 4G of memory per CPU core. Local disk space requirements are modest
as the virtual host storage is on shared storage, since each
physical system hosts multiple virtual systems (approx 1 per core). Dual
drives are used for redundancy as are N+1 power supplies. The machines are to have at least one free PCI or PCI-X slot to facilitate future growth.
The machines for initial deployment meet these specifications and have
dual core dual socket 2.4GHz
SocketF Opteron chips with 16G of RAM.
These are currently presented virtually as single CPU systems with 2G RAM per system.
