CSAIL Debian
CSAIL Debian is TIG's custom GNU/Linux distrubution. It is the standard Linux system used in the lab and supports x86 and amd64 (x86_64) hardware . It is intended to provide easy access to all major lab services and is fully supported by TIG. Based on the Debian GNU Linux distribution, CSAIL Debian has over 15000 software packages available to it. CSAIL Debian comes pre-configured with the most commonly used applications in the CSAIL environment. It uses the KDE desktop by default and is integrated with the CSAIL Kerberos realm, AFS/NFS filesystems, and printing infrastructure. This allows easy, transparent access to all the standard network resources without you needing to know the details of how everything works.
